A successful grant submission to the Australian government for 10 postgraduate mobility scholarships offer students the opportunity to travel to Singapore + Malaysia to participate in units (for credits) to support learning beyond the classroom to encourage students to be global citizens. Aimed at promoting greater exchange with Singapore through knowledge share and engagements that have mutual benefits for host institutions, organisations and governing bodies.

The two co-requisite units in the Masters of Architecture course that was identified to be the most appropriate to offer the 10 scholarships were Urban Design Studio (ARCH5024) and Urban Design Methods (ARCH5025). The two unit coordinators Associate Professor Khoa Do (Design - ARCH5024) and Dr Francesco Mancini (Methods - ARCH5025) are highly experienced in urban design having professionally practiced and taught both the units in the urban design area.

An essential element of these two units, been offered in Singapore + Malaysia provides an important common ground in which there is a shared commitment to support projects that are in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Curtin Malaysia and International Multi - disciplinary Practices such as HASSELL. The 2017 GDS Singapore + Malaysia program will offer students a real-world learning beyond the classroom experience.

Learning outcomes will be carefully considered to ensure equivalency in order to satisfy expected competencies. Assessment pattern has been designed to taken into consideration the intensive teaching mode of delivery. The application of a summative assessment will be adopted. There will be an ongoing reviews and feedback pre, during and post unit for clear direction and tracking progress. Post phase involves reflective practice in order to refine and edit the work captured during the travel. The work will be marked and moderated using external and internal benchmarking. As this is a joint collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Curtin Malaysia. We are in the process of putting in place a review/moderation process.
